Arlington National Cemetery Officially designated as a military cemetery June 15, 1864, by Secretary of War Edwin M. Stanton, more than 300,000 people buried in Arlington National Cemetery. Veterans from all the nation's wars are buried in the cemetery, from the American Revolution through the military actions in Iraq and Afghanistan. Pre-Civil War dead were reinterred after 1900.

Marine Corps War Memorial Marine Corps War Memorial: Officially dedicated by President Dwight D. Eisenhower on November 10, 1954, the 179th anniversary of the U.S. Marine Corps- the memorial is dedicated to all Marines who have given their lives in the defense of the United States since 1775. The colossal statue was designed by Felix de Weldon and was based on the iconic photograph of the raising of the Flag on Iwo Jima by Associated Press photographer Joe Rosenthal.

Pentagon Headquarters of the Department of Defense, the Pentagon is one of the world's largest office buildings with approximately 23,000 employees. It is twice the size of the Merchandise Mart in Chicago, and has three times the floor space of the Empire State Building in New York. The Pentagon does not have a street address.

The intersection of Army Navy Dr. & Fern St. in Arlington, VA is the entrance to the South Parking lot of the Pentagon.

Dumbarton Oaks Located in residential Georgetown, the federal-style mansion contains famous gardens, a museum and a library.

The entrance to the museum and the music room is located at 1703 32nd St., between S and R Streets. The entrance to the gardens is at R and 31st.

Gadsby's Tavern Museum Named for Englishman John Gadsby, this museum consists of 2 buildings- the tavern and the city hotel. The establishment was a center of political, business, and social life in early Alexandria. The tavern was the setting for dancing assemblies, theatrical and musical performances, and meetings of local organizations.
